All we know is what we don’t want in our partners, and that does not mean that we simply want the opposite – that is not the same as what we want in a partner.

For example, if you dated a really passive person and hated it, that means you don’t like dating passive people. That’s it. It doesn’t mean that you want and/or need someone that is extremely dominant – that’s just an assumption that we make about ourselves all the time. And it’s so silly!

So what do we want in our partners? Well, I’ll get back to you when I figure that out. It’s just not something that can or should be quantified, because then dating becomes about looking for a specific set of traits. That doesn’t really make sense at the core, does it? It makes far more sense to start with people that you can fall in love with and have romantic chemistry with, and then see if they have those traits, or if you can live with them not having them.
