Implications
The awareness that everything is relative â therefore normality too â recall the antinomy between the singularity of the person (the self formation event and self education event) and the rule. Through such dichotomy the normal is really important in education at least as ruling device : there would be no difference between therapeutic and formative, normal and special, sane and insane, ordinary and outstanding. That is no reduction anyway. We must be convinced that the class or section is composed of homogeneous kids as concerns the cognitive and maturational aspect : « it represents not only a superficial reading of the reality but also a problem in the educational perspective. The difference is the normality and to recognize it means to live the school experience as enriching » 271.
Under the normality criterion is to be put the re-evaluation of the education intuition â comparable to the common sense escaping from slogans and fashions â which is to be found in non professional educators and to whom the law gives the name of natural law. That spontaneous educational gift is « the awareness that the peopleâs common sense is an energy of educability and of pre-requisites of being and aims » 272. The folk pedagogy (called so by Bruner) isnât opposed to the didactical creativity and methodological competence. It has a ruling value but difficult to validate273.
