Embellishment

Using the stem stitch, outline each violin with embroidery floss.

Secure a tubular wooden bead for the bridge.

For the strings, lay down strands of Sulky Sliver and couch by hand with invisible thread. Thread each end of the Sulky Sliver onto a needle, bring to the back, and secure.

Add wooden beads for the tuners.

Embroider the details on patches V.4 and V.5 using the satin stitch and embroidery floss.

Flute Block

Praise Him with the … flute.

Use the flute block template patterns (Patterns are available to print from http://tinyurl.com/10922-patterns).

1. In the center of a 24˝ × 24˝ background square, trace the outline of the cymbal underlay and the parts of patches F.3, F.4, F.6, and F.8 that extend beyond the underlay. Trace patches F.1, F.5, F.7, and the inner edge of the block underlay (brace design).

2. On a 12˝ × 12˝ square of the cymbal underlay fabric, trace the outline of the cymbal underlay and the parts of patches F.3, F.4, F.6, and F.8 that fall within the underlay. Trace patches F.2 and F.9.

3. Appliqué patch F.1 onto the background.

4. Appliqué the cymbal underlay onto the background, taking care to line up the traced lines inside and outside the circle.

5. Appliqué patches F.2 through F.8 onto the block.

6. Trace patch F.14 and each patch F.13 onto patch F.12.

7. Trace patch F.12 onto patch F.11.

8. Trace patch F.11 onto patch F.10.

9. Trace patch F.10 onto patch F.9.

10. Appliqué patches F.9 through F.14 onto the block.
