Exercise

Take an hour or two each week to watch current hit videos. Don’t just have them playing in the background. Really pay attention and familiarize yourself with the hot new artists. Make a list of those artists you’d like to write for. Listen to their albums and study the album liner notes, especially noting whether these artists record songs that were neither self-penned nor written by their producers. Then write a song that comes from your heart that would be perfect for each of these artists.
