Week 1: Research and Organizing Information

Each class worked through these slides over the course of the week. Students had the chance to watch the corresponding video for each forest animal and identify specific facts. While the teacher recorded those facts on the discovery space provided in the slides, each child also had a copy of the little book in which they independently recorded data and observations as the teacher modeled on the projected slide. The little book was designed so that young readers and writers would have a way to visually organize and analyze information as it applied to each animal. This would support comparing and contrasting the needs and characteristics of each animal type individually and as they relate to each other.
