We all have potential to be great. We also have the potential to be unkind, unmotivated, and negative. All the good and bad things about a human being are possible within all human beings.

Some people are drawn to the negative ones, and they’ll spend their whole lives struggling to heal, fix, and change them into something better. What they don’t realize is that if you choose wisely, you don’t need to change anyone.

You don’t have to chase after a negative person who has the potential to be great. Instead, find someone motivated enough to change themselves. Find someone who is already on the path toward becoming a better person. They will continue to do the work, and you can support them along the way. That’s the healthier alternative.

So get out of the business of changing people. You’ll fail every time. Even doctors, priests, and therapists can’t help those who don’t want to help themselves. Don’t waste your time, health, and energy on someone who would rather stay where they are.
