Fellini had always wanted to direct elephants, but this one took very little direction.

I found my control and clapped my hands together. The sound was like a thunderbolt. I commanded my mother to go. She disappeared. I don’t mean that she left. I mean that she just disappeared.

The giant female sea monster beckoned to me. She wanted me to come closer. It was what I wanted, too.

I remember, not without fear, my mother’s warning that the sea monster would swallow me whole. Somehow, that seemed very inviting, as well as frightening. I thought it must be very warm inside of her.

I moved forward.

Then, I woke up. After that, I was not a boy anymore.
