Breathing through Bearing Down
As you did in the previous breathing exercise, breathe through the nose but this time, make the in breathe quicker and the outer one as long as you can while directing the breath down and out. As you breathe out, the out breath should resonate at the back of your nose and the muscles in your stomach should feel as if you are giving them a light workout.
Now that we have looked at the various reasons why you should take Hypnobirthing classes and discussed the various ways you can hypnotize yourself and breathe through the surges and bear downs, let us look at general Hypnobirthing tips that upon practicing, shall help you have an easy, positive pregnancy.
Birth Breath
Birth breath is not something that you can practice a lot before birthing. It is important that you have an understanding that once you become fully dilated the baby still has a way to never get down the birth path to be born. So the birth breath really involves trusting your body and following the lead of your body with a shorter inhale of breath and a longer exhale of breath down into your body. It is normally demonstrated as breathing in strongly, and breathing out through your mouth, while you involve your voice to get the breath out of your body and the energy to pass on to your baby.
J Breathing
J breathing is one of the many Hypnobirthing tools you can use to help you feel really calm and in control when you birth your baby. The reason this technique of breathing is called J breathing is because youâre breathing your baby downwards into your body. This breath is very specific so itâs good for a specific phase of labor, so you will have gone through your labor and birth in such a way that your cervix opens beautifully and, after a point, your baby will come down and put some pressure on your pelvic floor and you will feel an involuntary urge that you want to push. You may feel a pressure to poo as well. This is a good sign, it means that you may actually not want to poo but the baby is putting enough pressure on your rectum and has gently travelled down to the birth canal. The J breath is the most appropriate tool to help you stay calm. Unlike the other breathing techniques, J breathing helps you really push the baby down.
How to practice J breathing:
Relax your shoulders and your jaw line. Breathe in through your nostrils and into your throat. It is a technique where youâre opening up your throat so that you can feel the air travel down. Place a hand on your throat very gently, to bring your attention there and gently breathe out through your throat. In this method of breathing, you can hear your breath through your throat, as it is a very noisy breath. You donât have to count the breath. Breathe in slowly and the exhale is also as long and as slow as you can make it.
