Chervil & coriander

Best sowing time: late July to early August

Other possible times: late August

Seed can be sown direct in drills or in small pots to plant out or to be repotted

Chervil and coriander can follow any of the many vegetables that are cleared in summer

Chervil has fine flavour and elegance; coriander is as pungent as ever in winter

Varieties

‘Brussels Winter’ chervil is the least inclined to flower and survives low temperatures, down to -10°C (14°F) or lower. ‘Calypso’ coriander is about three weeks slower to flower than most other varieties, so it crops for longer in spring, after surviving the winter.
