TRIMMING YOUR LAVENDER
Amazing news: it’s the end of the summer, and your lavender has survived and grown from strength to strength! Some of the flowers will probably have reached their end by this point, and that’s ok, they’re meant to.
To make sure your lavender stays bushy and beautiful for next year, it’s a good idea to give it a haircut before autumn. This stops its stems from growing brown and tough, or woody. Instead, it will treat you with plenty of fragrant flowers next summer.
Simply cut off the stalks that have flowered and take off about 2–3cm all over the rest of the plant. Make sure you keep some green growth, though. Scoop up your cuttings, pop them in a canvas bag and put it somewhere warm: it will smell divine.
