When applying mulch, aim for a 4" layer on your planting area. Don’t push the mulch up around the base of your plants. Once you’ve spread it, water the mulch lightly so it is moist but not soggy. This will help “lock” the mulch into position.

2 Working with nature, not against it. This means preventing problems before they occur through a smart garden design. An organic garden is a balanced system with a reduced vulnerability to insects and invasive weeds.

3 Starting with the least toxic solution. It’s a misconception that organic gardeners don’t use any chemicals. They do when necessary; however, they start with the least harmful solution first.
