Existing Frame

The Church’s attempts to impose its sexual dogmas on poor countries have led to overpopulation and contributed to the spread of AIDS.

Reframe

No organization is as present among the world’s poor as the Catholic Church, defending the interests of the poor against attempts by wealthy countries to persuade them to have fewer children. Church AIDS programs do not just promote that which is morally right and works best, but which fits with the values of traditional societies. From the standpoint of its option for the poor, the Church critiques a world economy too geared to the satisfaction of the materialist desires of the rich rather than the needs of the poor and promotes an “integral ecology” capable of responding to the interconnected issues of “human ecology,” development, and the environment.
