How to Do It

1. Talk about patterns and then search for them in magazines and books. Remind your child that a pattern is something that repeats.

2. Look around the room and notice patterns. Ask questions such as:

What is one pattern we see in this room?

How can we describe this pattern?

What comes next in this pattern?
