Even though we on the hill hadn’t access to the “Big Picture” or maps with colored pins or colored markers, it seemed obvious these guys were heading east toward Chu Lai to join with other elements for a pending attack.

The village was a way-stop where they could be fed by the VC-friendly population. They were greeted and soon dispersed among the hooches. What appeared to be the leaders made their way to the lively building in the village center. Sergeant Howard reported it as a possible headquarters or command post.
