It's been a week since Love left. Everything in the house has been sad. Even though Bryson said he doesn't, I know he misses her. Things just don't feel right. I asked Egypt if she knew anything, but she told me no. Even with the way that Love treated her, she's still loyal to her. As much as I didn't want to, I called her to check on her.

“Hello.”

“Hey.”

“Hey Josh.”

“How are you doing?”

“I'm good what about you? How is Junior?”

“He’s good, he misses you.”

“He probably doesn't even realize I'm gone,” she laughed.

“He does. I hold him walking around the house and he looks for you” I told her. It breaks my heart that Junior is so attached to her and she's pushing us away.

“Aww I would like to see him if you’re ok with it. I know it's kind of cold today so how about this weekend?”

“Umm sure this weekend is good. Did you find a place yet?”

“Not yet.”

“Why not just come back?”

“I can't do that Joshua.”

“Well what about Thanksgiving. Its two weeks away and we going to my mom’s house. She wants you to come.”

“I don't know Joshua.”

“She said no is not an option.”

She got quiet for a minute.

“Well?”

“Ok Joshua, I guess I'll come. Does she need help cooking?”

“I'll ask her but I'm sure she'll love your help.”

“Ok I'll be there. I have to go, I have a viewing for a condo in a few minutes.”

“Ok, glad you’re alright.”

“I'll see you guys this weekend.”

“Ok. I love you. I waited to see if she was gonna say it back.”

“I love you too Josh,” she said as she hung up.

I couldn't understand where we were going wrong but I wasn't gonna wait for her to realize it. Junior was taking his nap so I decided to call my mom and see what she was up to.

“Hello.”

“Hey Ma.”

“Hello son, how are you?”

“I’m good, what about you?”

“I'm great! Just came from food shopping. I hope I bought enough stuff.”

“What you making?”

“Hmm let’s see. Ham, turkey, chicken, gravy, mac and cheese, stuffing, string beans, candy yams, potato salad, macaroni salad, collard greens, spinach, apple pie, sweet potato pie, key lime pie, and a strawberry cake. I was thinking about a duck, but didn't know if y'all ate that.”

“Damn Ma, why you making so much?”

“Because it's Thanksgiving! I don't see you much so I wanted to have a big feast. Is Love coming?”

“Yes she said she would come. She asked if you needed help cooking.”

“I could use a hand or two.”

“Ok I'll ask Egypt if she wants to help out too, so you have them.”

“Oh well, thank you very much.”

“No problem Ma.”

“Oh and don't get upset but I want you to invite Junior’s mother also.”

“For what!?”

“Relax Joshua. I know it will be hard, but I want to meet her. She is the mother of my grandchild.”

“I don't know about that Ma. I don't want to be anywhere near that bitch.”

“Watch it! Regardless of how she is Joshua, she's still a woman and I raised you better than that.
