Using a ruler and pencil, draw an 18" x 12" (45.5 x 30.5cm) rectangle on the foam core. On each side of the rectangle, measure and make a mark every 6" (15cm). You will make one mark on the short sides of the rectangle, and two marks on the long sides. Connect the marks with straight lines to form a grid with 6" (15cm) squares (figure 1).

Follow figure 2 to place T-pins along and within the grid. Note: Some T-pins are placed where the grid lines intersect; the others are placed 3" (7.5cm) along or away from a grid line.
