I am thrilled to be able to express myself by writing on my personal blog. It gives me creative license to perfect my gift, and it is also a tool to help other women who’ve walked down the same road of infidelity that I have walked. Many people just aren’t as far along on their journey as I am.

Every week I receive e-mails from women who ask many questions about getting through infidelity in their marriage. Of all the questions I am asked, one of the most common is, “How did you learn to trust him again?” And every time I give the same answer: I am still learning.

I would love to be able to come up with the perfect algebraic formula that shows exactly how to restore trust. But that isn’t going to happen—not because I barely squeezed out of algebra with a 71 percent, but because trust and forgiveness don’t exist in the land of numbers. They are born of God’s grace, mercy, and healing.

It would be really nice if I could paint the most amazing piece of artwork to show you the mystical, beautiful way that forgiveness blossoms from a hardened heart. But I can only draw stick figures. Besides, the only drawing we are asked to do is to draw our strength and our hope from God’s grace. This is true for every trial, every heartbreak, and every betrayal we experience.

I am still on my journey of having my trust restored in my husband, but I have learned a few things that I hope you will find helpful. And remember, you don’t have to have endured infidelity in your marriage to lose trust. Trust can be broken in many different ways.

I believe that the enemy of my soul wants my marriage to tumble into the abyss. He has made many attempts to destroy us, but they didn’t work. We have been badly bruised and have lots of scars from the war, but we were not taken down. And I think that ticks him off. In fact, I know it does. Which is why, I believe, he is coming back after me in a mental battle. If he can’t get our marriage to fail and end in divorce, and if he can’t turn us against God, he is going to do everything in his power to make me feel as if all our healing and hope will one day run out.

How will I know if he succeeds? How will you know if he succeeds in your life? The day we live in fear and allow our minds and hearts to worry about situations that may never occur is a day he is winning. These moments of fret and hopelessness are a complete waste of my precious time and my precious life and marriage. The same is true for your life, my friend. We are experiencing restoration, and we needn’t look beyond God for our truth and courage.
