It was Sealark, poking her head through the jagged hole in the ice that she’d made earlier. Her beautiful blue fur glistened with droplets. She leapt out of the hole in a perfect arc and slid to a halt beside them. Her nose twitched as a tear rolled down her cheek. ‘I’ve broken the Wishing Star Waterfall. I’ll never forgive myself!’

Pippi patted her shoulder gently. ‘Don’t worry,’ she said. ‘We’ll find the answer. We just need to work out who to ask.’

‘Oh, I know who you can ask,’ said Sealark, sniffing.

‘Who?’ asked Oliver.

‘Swotter,’ said Sealark. ‘She’s probably the wisest creature in all of Hatchtopia. I’m sure she’ll be able to tell you everything you need to know.’

‘Awesome!’ said Oliver. ‘But, erm … where do we find her?’

In their own world, he and Ava could have searched for the information online, but he guessed there was nothing like the internet in Hatchtopia. And he hadn’t seen a library anywhere.

Thankfully, Sealark knew the answer to this, too. ‘Well, she’s from the River family. So the river will be the best place to find her!’

‘Thanks, Sealark!’ said Oliver.

‘Hang on!’ Duke said to Oliver, flying up to head-height and waggling his feet. ‘We’ll get to the river faster if we fly. There’s no time to waste when the future of the Wishing Star Waterfall is at stake.’
