STEP 5

CONNECT THE WIRES TO THE LEAVES AND COVER THE CONNECTION.

Cut the reserved sheets of paper into seventeen 1- × 4-inch [2.5- × 10-cm] strips—one for each leaf (14 medium green and 3 ochre green). Place a large leaf pattern side down and position a 16-inch [41-cm] wire on the leaf, overlapping the paper by about 3 inches [7.5 cm] and following the center crease. The remainder of the wire should protrude from the point of the leaf shape. Following the instructions on this page for the paper strip method, cover the wire with a paper strip. The strip should be positioned flush with the leaf point. Secure the wire in place by pressing the bone folder around the contours of the wire. Once the glue is dry, trim the paper strip where it is visible from the front, following the contours of the leaf. Repeat for all the leaves.
