Antenna
It is a critical part of the amateur radio as it serves as the link between the electromagnetic wave traveling through the coax and the electromagnetic waves that travel through the air. When choosing an antenna there a couple of factors to consider. Is the antenna for a handled, mobile or a base radio? What is the terrain in your locality? How much space do you have? Does the type of communication you are looking to require you to go vertical or horizontal? If you are in a car, you may need a mobile antenna, whereas the installation of the radio station in a fixed location will require a more powerful antenna. It is worth noting that quality antenna is integral to the smooth operation of a ham radio, and if faced with the choice, it is prudent to choose a better antenna over a better quality ham radio.
