CHAPTER 4: SETTING UP AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR

With an acoustic guitar, we have less control over the setup than with an electric guitar. We don’t usually have moveable parts on an acoustic. (Many archtops do have adjustable bridges, but we’ll be concentrating on flattops here.) A very expensive guitar is likely to be setup very well straight from the factory. (At least we’d hope so!) If you can’t afford a $3,000 Gibson or Martin, however, don’t fret. There are several adjustments we can make to improve the performance of many guitars.
