Process

We’ve built in the process aspect to our learning based on the idea that we can’t be in two places at once. We’re either focusing on what’s being said (taking information in) or trying to make sense of it (processing). Giving the children time to internalise and take on board new information leads us to the next stage of questioning. Beyond simply recalling, what we want here is a signal that they’ve understood what’s been said.

‘Could you summarise …?’

‘Can you identify the key points …?’
