“Hello, Vanilla Bean.” Lout said with a smile. I looked up and watched Willow’s face turn bright red. “Nice to see you again.”

“Hey.” Willow turned to me, “Where’s my Mom?”

“She’s napping. She didn’t sleep well at all last night.” Willow’s eyebrows raised up and I shook my head. “Not for any good reasons either.”

“Mama sat on the couch with her gun. She checked on us a lot, I counted four times, but I may have missed some because I was sleeping.” Petra told her sister. “Someone was watching our house from behind a tree and he tricked Jewel and me, so Mama is afraid to sleep now.”
