Another sign that your succulent isn’t getting enough light is if it starts to lose it’s color. Succulents that start out with leaves of red, purple, pink, orange, etc. will start to turn green if they don’t get enough light. If your plant is green to begin with it will likely stay green. Many succulent will “blush” or get a tinge of a different color along the edge of the leaves when they have proper sunlight.

A lot of people recommend growing succulents that are naturally green so you don’t have to worry about them losing their color. I tend to like more colorful plants so I try to make sure they are getting enough light. Sometimes stressing the plant will also help bring back its original color. This could include giving it more sunlight, letting the soil dry out longer between watering, and exposing the succulent to colder temperatures (although still above freezing).
