CHAPTER 7
Growing Vegetable
Fresh new home-grown vegetables are not only possible throughout the year but are easily obtained with a little effort! Set up in your backyard or garden a little greenhouse, and you'll be able to produce your own new, young, organic vegetables! Just in a matter of minutes from your greenhouse to your kitchen table! It's not getting any fresher than it does now!
Selecting vegetables that don't take up a lot of space is a great idea so that you can make the most of your room. Whatever space you have at your disposal, everyone can grow fresh produce at home in a greenhouse. Home-grown fruit and vegetables taste much better than shop-bought products. Resources such as tomato plants make the perfect choice simply because they are easy to look after and need only a small area to grow in. Green leafy plants like Lettuce are also useful because the leaves can be harvested and used anytime you need them in a recipe, without causing the plant itself to be damaged. Most gardeners choose to plant directly into growing bags that are put in the greenhouse, but you never know when to move plants inside, so it's a much better idea to plant your seedlings in pots and then place them inside. It gives you the flexibility to move the plants around or fully push them out of the greenhouse.
As with all plants grown in a greenhouse, making sure you don't allow the plants to overheat or dry out due to lack of water is very necessary. Most greenhouses can be temperature-controlled, but if yours isn't, make sure there are enough ventilation and daily watering. Consider purchasing a covering over the roof for Greenhouses located in an East-West dimension. During the heat of the day, this will maintain a lower stable temperature and also insulate during the cooler night times. You can find that your greenhouse gets dirty over time. This will help to improve the quality, so consider once a year wiping off the glass or plastic.
