Data Integration

We maintain our own data warehouse, in which more than 40 of our data systems, including our student information system, our state assessment data, attendance data, and others are brought together, and then we visualize it in a whole host of dashboards through Tableau, a software product that helps users visualize and understand data. When we started getting blended learning data, we became excited about the prospect of bringing blended learning data into the data warehouse and triangulating it against other student achievement data. However, incorporating blended learning data into our data warehouse has proved to be easier said than done with most software providers. We request automated nightly uploads of software data, and only a few providers actually have the willingness and capability to do so. Some of them have worked closely with us and generously built customized data sets for export, which we, in turn, have visualized in our own dashboards. These customized data sets are the ideal, as we've been able to build dashboards for our teachers that allow them to see the data and make it actionable in their classrooms. Most providers, however, are not there yet and we struggle to find software partners who will work with us on this.
