2) Why do you think Abraham stopped when he got down to ten righteous people? Why not go all the way down to one? Would it have made any difference?

EXPLORING THE MEANING

We are all called to be friends of God. It is easy to become complacent about this concept—to take for granted what a priceless treasure we have in our relationship with God through Christ. When we pray, we are entering freely into the presence of the Creator of the universe! This is a privilege that came at tremendous cost—the painful death of God’s own Son—and we can easily forget how privileged we are.

As God’s friends, we are invited to enter His presence at any time. More than this, we are urged to do so, for God is actually eager to fellowship with us! Abraham demonstrated the proper attitude toward this incredible blessing when he stood with God to speak as a man speaks to a friend—and then stepped even closer to speak to Him intimately. This attitude is both pleasing to God and profitable to His children.
