W hen you do take care of fish, especially as a beginner, you must be able to ensure that everything that you do is done in order to facilitate the growth and development of everything that is kept within it. You must ensure that the fish are healthy, especially if you want to be able to harvest them, as well. You must ensure that your fish is happy and kept properly if you want to ensure that they are a consistent and reliable source of nutrition for your plants. In an aquaponic garden, the plants are just one half of the system—the fish are just as important, or in some cases, even more important, than the plants themselves. The plants that you develop and grow can only be grown if you maintain the fish. Without the fish, the plants lack the nutritional content that they will require to ensure that they are better able to grow. Without the fish, your plants lack the nutrition that they will not be able to live with at all. Simply put, if you were to take an aquaponic system and then just remove the fish, your plants would die. The plants and the fish exist in symbiosis with each other—they both rely on each other to truly thrive and that means that you must be able to take care of the fish to a capacity that you know will ensure that they thrive. To truly take care of your fish and to truly ensure that they thrive, you must be willing to follow all of the care that they will need.
