Almond pollen by itself is not a good food for bees … Bees require a balanced diet and to get this almost always require more than one kind of pollen. In pollinating almonds (and other crops), so many bees are concentrated in a relatively small area that many hives will not have a chance to collect pollen from more than the orchard or orchard floor. And leave no doubt that bee viruses have a better opportunity to spread from hive to hive when near a million hives are concentrated in a limited area for almond pollination.
