Further Seems Forever Tulagi Club Boulder CO March 2002

visitor at home. That feeling of home actually had moved to being in transit. Climbing back into the van after that week, I was home. For the next decade, we would tour as hard as any band I know. We did over 1,600 concerts in ten years. For the first couple years, we were doing between 260 and 300 dates a year. Our big break came when we were invited to join the Something Corporate tour that fall, 2003. We were on that with a band called Days Away that we love, and The Format. We were playing for 1,500 to 2,000 people a night.”

Chris Carrabba: “We were culturally and geographically isolated way down in Florida. We had to make our own bands. But the thing that was great about that was there happened to be some incredible players. There was an insatiable appetite for music. I think that the fact that we were isolated raised the bar of what we expected from each other in terms of quality.”

Aaron Gillespie: “When we made our first EP, we were living in South Florida in this guy’s apartment, James Wisner, who actually wound up doing They’re Only Chasing Safety, our first real record. He had just got the Further Seems Forever record with Chris [Carrabba] singing. We were actually staying in Chris’s house. Chris rented the top floor of this house from this lady in Fort Lauderdale, and she let us all stay there. And I remember Chris giving me The Swiss Army Romance on a burned CD. I was like, ‘Holy shit.’ I just knew when he gave that to me that Further Seems Forever was done.”

Chris Carrabba: “Let me set the record straight on exactly where they crashed. I may have told them that was my place, but I was a boarder at a house with three or four other people, and they all happened to be out of town.
