To play the B note, you must press the key located underneath and to the side, near the top of the flute, with the left thumb. Then, press the first key on the flute using your index finger. Using this finger placement, you will be able to play the natural B note as air travels through the instrument. Keep in mind that there are some variations between playing B or B flat. The difference is found in the thumb key, which has two levers or smaller keys. If you press the first lever of the posterior key, the resulting sound will correspond to the flat B note. On the other hand, if you press on the second level or the lower small key, the resulting sound will correspond to a natural B note. Practice playing this note a few times before moving on to another note.
