The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.
—Mahatma Gandhi, All Men Are Brothers
Summary
Harboring resentment and anger is harmful to your health. It can contribute to heart disease, depression, and anxiety. Forgiveness is the medicine for healing. Establish a plan to let go of your resentment. Set a goal, focusing on where you would like to be in a few years. Put yourself in the place of the other person. What would your behavior be if you were in their shoes? Let go of expectations concerning other’s behavior. Shift your focus to positive things. Don’t forgive because you think you have to or for the sake of the other person; forgive because it will be a blessing to you.
