Picture and Present

This activity allows students to choose a favorite portion of the book and share about that portion. This increases engagement and motivation, and makes sharing less of a chore. It also allows students to create something visually interesting, which is good for creative learners and useful in making presentations livelier.

The idea behind picture and present is simple. Upon finishing a reading, have students create a single picture that describes a scene, character, or detail from the story.

Students then present the picture to a partner or a group, and discuss why they drew the picture. This might be done in groups, pairs, or individually. If your classroom allows for it, display the pictures around the room until you have finished working with the book.
