Bitch first of all every one of Beyoncé’s albums went #1. Second of all Beyoncé has more fucking hits in a strand of her fake ass hair than Rihanna has in her entire career. Bitch if Rihanna was a track Beyoncé would sing relays around her. Bitch Beyoncé could snatch up Rihanna’s entire career with one strand of her baby’s hair. Bitch Beyoncé makes Rihanna sound like a dying walrus with a mic. Bitch Beyoncé could stand there and not even touch the mic and still sound better than Rihanna. Bitch don’t play Queen Bey. Don’t even put her on the same planet with Rihanna. Beyoncé and Rihanna is like Earth and Pluto. One is needed by every human being and the other is irrelevant. And if you just joking… I’m sorry [for] my outburst.

The queen bee is a goddess, strictly regimented in all that she does. She will be easy to spot, as the largest in the colony, and is of course pivotal to everything that happens within a healthy group. With few exceptions, she is the only queen in a colony, a vast swarm that may number tens of thousands or more. A secreted queen pheromone sends a message to workers about her health and productivity, while chemicals influence the behaviour of others. The workers take care of the queen, feeding and grooming her – she depends heavily upon the rest of the colony, as they on her. She will lay all day to spawn the next generation of devoted bees.

Lela is driving from Connecticut to North Carolina on a road trip, music off only to talk, and once she gets talking there is no stopping her. ‘I consider myself to be CEO of the Beyhive,’ she says with confidence. She’s in her late twenties and a star of her state (quite literally Miss Alabama in the 2016 US Universal pageant, crowned wearing a black and gold dress). She is already an army veteran with a BSc and an MA, having gone to one of the US’s historically black colleges – like the one referenced by Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella headlining performance, which had every journalist and fan referring to that year’s event as Beychella. ‘Fierce and Fabulous’ are the three words she lives by. Attending events and conferences, supporting her friends and family, coaching track and field, competing in pageants or volunteering through her sorority: time spent idle is wasted time. She devotes a large portion of that time, for no money or obvious material gain, blogging about whatever Beyoncé is doing, along with happenings within the black community.

Lela grew up in Alabama, the state Beyoncé’s dad is from. She lives a whole seven and a half hours from where Beyoncé herself was raised: Houston, Texas.
