BOX 6.3. A Checklist of Questions for Social Skills Instruction

1.Verbal communication. “Repeat the words that you heard.”

2.Nonverbal communication. “Describe the facial expressions, gestures, or changes in tone of voice that you noticed.”

3.Contextual information. “Where is this interaction occurring?” Who is present? What are they doing? Where did they just come from, and where are they going to go after this scene is completed? What do these people need to do next?

4.Links. How successfully does the student link observable behaviors with intentions, desires, emotions, or beliefs? “What do you think the person is thinking or feeling?”
