Joy
Luminé walked across the Throne Room trying desperately to hold back the tears of joy he felt. They had been delivered. He glanced out over the Eastern sky as he passed the overlook. Freedom was now his and he vowed in his heart that he would never again jeopardize that freedom.
But then the weight of subduing Legion crashed upon his head. What if Legion ended up subduing him? His freedom would mean nothing if he were turned to dust.
The large wooden doors slowly swung open and there was Oxana, standing alone on the portico, looking so beautiful in her simple gown. Her eyes met his and Luminé could see the hope he had not seen in a very long time. He let a half smile come over his face, then nodded, and wiped away the tear that had escaped.
Oxanaâs head fell backward and then forward, her chin touching her chest, and she began to cry.
Luminé embraced her. âWe are free.â
âThank the Lords,â Oxana cried, burying her cheek into his broad shoulder. âLuminé, thank you. Thank you.â
She lifted her head. âCan we come back to the Heavens?â
âNo,â he said. âThere are some rules, but forget about them now. We are free. The dome is being opened.â
Oxana buried her face in his shoulder again, shuddering, weeping incessantly, her years of despair melting away.
The doors swung open and Splendora walked out, alone. Oxana looked up and Luminé turned, and their eyes met. Splendora stopped, and for a moment, there was silence.
Luminé said, âThank you.â
Oxana nodded. âYes, thank you.â
Splendora tried not to smile, but she could not help it. She too wiped tears from her eyes, nodded, and walked away.
