The next task is to choose which portions of the New Testament to compare. The requirement for this investigation is that the chosen New Testament passages must contain at least some of the main teachings of Christianity. But how to decide what are the main teachings of Christianity? A study of doctrinal statements from some of the major denominations reveals a common group of foundational Christian teachings based on passages from the New Testament.6 I have selected a few of the core doctrines, which, fortuitously can all be found in the first few chapters of the book of Acts.

The following pages present groups of verses from Acts that teach these doctrines, with the verses being laid out in sets of three lines as described earlier. At the beginning of each group is a listed summary of the doctrines being taught, followed by background information.
