They cannot tell you what to do nor should you ask if you want specific details regarding your path; you can communicate with your higher self for those details. The higher self is the energetic or spiritual aspect of you, and it knows your path and purpose.

In communicating with the higher planes, you should never get communication that will tell you to do something specific or act in a way that is not in the highest vibration, nor should it every feel negative. It should always be kind and beautiful. If, for any reason, it does not feel good, stop communication.
