What inspired this piece?

A lifelong obsession of trees and the curves and balance of the branches inspired the painting. Painted in Sydney, Australia.

What was the inspiration for this piece?

This is somewhere I walk through several times a week. On this occasion I was early going somewhere so I sat down to draw awhile. I was interested in the blue of the bandstand, which was newly renovated. I also like to sketch people quickly as they walk past—drawing without looking at the paper is useful for this as I can concentrate on seeing as much as possible in a short time. The finished drawing is in wax crayon with some paint and highlighter pen.
