Rodents have round eyes that are placed at the side of the head so they can keep watch for predators.
Rodents are common, but shy and hard to photograph. Mice and African hedgehogs are sometimes kept as pets, and it is often easier to sketch and photograph tame animals to use as reference.
DEMONSTRATION
Chipmunk
Chipmunks are striped little creatures who live primarily in North American forests. They are famous for their cheek pouches, which can stretch to store nuts and seeds. I always think they have friendly little faces, and they can become quite tame in campgrounds where people tend to feed them.
