Chapter Nineteen
Once Rowan closed the heavy wooden door behind them, he heaved a sigh of relief. He had not realized how much Harper's presence had affected him. Not taking any chances with the two enemies encased within the castle walls, Rowan lowered the heavy wooden brace into place across the door. When he turned around, his breath caught in his throat as he watched his bride standing next to the fire. Although it was May time, the night air still held a chill so a fire had been lit for the new couple. A more beautiful sight he had never seen before.
Her hair glowed with a life of its own and the way the light from the fire danced across her features she looked every bit as angelic as the first time he'd seen her. The soft glow of the flames nearly made her garments transparent which set his manhood to hardening worse than it already had been. She was so lovely, that she literally glowed with energy and warmth.
The fire played a rhythmic dance upon her copper tresses, igniting a fire deep down in his loins. He crossed the space between them in less than a heart beat and put his arms around her small frame as she gazed into the fire.
"Is it necessary for you to bar the door Rowan? Are we not safe in our own rooms from him?" she asked in a small voice leaning back against his massive chest, reveling in the warmth of his body.
"Aye, we are safe enough. But 'tis our wedding night and I do not wish to be disturbed by anyone." he kissed the top of her head, breathing in the fragrance of her.
"Are you afraid, Kira?" he asked gently when he felt her shiver against him.
"Aye, a little," she answered truthfully.
"I promise you will not regret this night," Rowan turned her to face him then lowered his lips to hers. A shiver of warmth quickly spread through Kira's trembling body. Her insides slowly melted as steel would melt on a forge; gradually it brought the temperature to a smoldering degree of incandescent warmth, making his kiss grow deeper as he held her more securely in his arms. She thought that their bodies would meld together in the fiery blast she felt rising from her very toes. Kira ached with a longing that she had never known before and she found she was not quite sure what to do about it.
Gently Rowan caressed her back, easing her closer against him. The fire that shot through his body was turning his blood into a raging inferno. Never had he felt as alive as he did with Kira in his arms, their lips locked into an eternal embrace that he hoped would never end.
Hungrily Rowan left her lips and burned a trail of hot kisses down the side of her neck to the hollow of her throat. His fingers were busy unlacing the ties that held her gown in place. Once that was
