Commenting on this event, Craig Blomberg says:

Jesus’ response, again using the introductory rebuke “Have you never read?” tacitly applauds their acclamation in light of Ps 8:2 (lxx [Septuagint] 8:3, which is quoted verbatim). There the children are praising Yahweh, so Jesus again accepts worship that is reserved for God alone.106

Also, after being healed by Jesus, a man worshiped Jesus, and Jesus accepted his worship.107 Lastly, Philippians 2:10–11 envisions a day in which everyone bends their knee in subjection to Jesus and lifts their voice in worship of Jesus as Lord.

Taken together, all of this evidence reveals that Jesus was and is God. Or, as Colossians 2:9 says perfectly, “in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.”

WAS JESUS FULLY HUMAN?

The Bible affirms the humanity of Jesus Christ in a variety of ways. Jesus had a human name—Jesus (meaning “Yahweh saves”) Christ (meaning “anointed one”)—and a human genealogy.108 He was born of a woman,109 had brothers and sisters,110 and was racially Jewish.111 Jesus grew physically, spiritually, mentally, and socially,112 learned,113 experienced fatigue,114 slept,115 grew hungry116 and thirsty,117 worked as a carpenter,118 had male and female friends he loved,119 gave encouraging compliments,120 loved children,121 celebrated holidays,122 went to parties,123 loved his mom,124 prayed,125 worshiped,126 and obeyed God the Father.127

Furthermore, not only did Jesus have a physical body,128 but he also suffered and died “in the flesh.”129 In addition to his body, Jesus also had a human spirit.130 Jesus was emotional as well, for the Bible notes that Jesus experienced grief,131 had compassion,132 was stressed,133 was astonished,134 was happy135 and told jokes,136 and even wept.137

Taken together, these are clearly the ways we speak of human beings and reveal that Jesus was, as Jesus and other Scriptures state, a man.138 The importance of this fact is found in 1 John 4:2–3:

By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
