Seeking Medical Care

A teen in need of medical care may need it quickly. How does one go about finding such care?

Each state has its own laws about health care and teens. A good place to start asking questions is a family doctor. If a doctor is not available, your local Health and Human Services department can provide information. Do an Internet search for the contact information. Many communities have public health clinics that can help a teen find proper information. An emergency clinic may also have information. School counselors can provide local resources, as can reference librarians. If there is a local college or university, the on-campus clinic may also be able to provide information and services for attending students. Many college students are still minors. Many colleges have programs and information to help young people in need.

Abortion is a polarizing issue. Whether or not you believe in a woman’s right to obtain an abortion, it is important to understand that the practice is legal in the United States.
