Heavenly Consensus?

In addition, a number of leading Christians have concluded that pets will be or are likely to be in Heaven including Billy Graham, W. A. Criswell, J. Vernon McGee, Dr. John Walvoord (past president of the distinguished Dallas Theological Seminary) and others. Some even believe they will go with us in the rapture. In the early 1900s, Dr. E. D. Buckner wrote The Immortality of Animals and listed dozens of theologians to similar effect. At least half a dozen books have been written which conclude that pets do indeed go to Heaven, such as Steve Wohlberg’s Will My Pet Go to Heaven? And one of the most definitive books on Heaven yet written concludes (time doesn't permit providing the full argument), "Yes. Horses, cats, dogs, dear, dolphins, and squirrels, as well as the inanimate creation – will be beneficiaries of Christ's death and resurrection." And, "… animals who once suffered on the old Earth will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay."16

According to 1 Corinthians 3:21-24, in eternity the redeemed will actually become the co-heirs of the universe itself -- the entire universe both material and spiritual. This is a logical conclusion in that those who have exercised personal trust in Christ for forgiveness of sins, incredibly, become coheirs with God and Christ of everything that is theirs, which, of course, is everything that is or will exist. (Romans 8:17) If even the amazingly powerful angels have become our servants (Hebrews 1:14); if we will actually judge angels in the future (1 Corinthians 6:3) and rule with God himself, will we not receive back a beloved dog or cat?
