How to Make a Trestle Dining Bench

(#1) Cut the feet and the crossbraces to length from 4 × 4 stock, cutting 45- and 22 1/2-degree angles on the ends (see Base Detail opposite page). Notch the feet to accept the legs.

(#2) Clamp the feet, the legs, and the crossbraces together, using a piece of scrap between the legs to hold position for the trestle so you ensure proper spacing. Make sure the crossbrace is centered and then drive 6-inch screws from the feet and crossbraces into the legs.
