INSTRUCTIONS
Create a reference file using Adobe Illustrator or InDesign to ensure that you know what the final layout will look like. This will ensure that all the names will fit. If you donât have these programs, you can still do this in Microsoft Word or Pages, but you may need to scale it down. Alternatively, you can also do some math and measure manually by dividing the space by the number of names you will need to fit per column. Donât forget to consider spacing and margins. Print out this document as a layout sheet, and include the measurements as well.
Print out the seating chart, table by table, into 5 x 7âinch (12.7 x 17.8âcm) sheets. You will be putting the vellum sheets on top. The vellum sheets are translucent, so you can see the names underneath.
On the sheet of Legion Stonehenge paper, draw out loose florals using the white acrylic paint pen. This will serve as the background of your seating chart. You will need to attach this seating chart to the foam board as a backing using double-sided tape.
With a ruler, measure the title of your seating chart, such as the names of the couple. Make sure you include margins all around the seating chart. Use a pencil to draw those margins if you need it, being sure to erase the pencil marks later.
Use the Tombow Fudenosuke pen to write the names of the couple on the top of the seating chart.
Align a 5 x 7âinch (12.7 x 17.8âcm) vellum sheet on top of each printed table sheet.
Fit the calligraphy pen with the Nikko G nib. Using the printed table sheet as a reference, write each name using the calligraphy pen, nib and sumi ink.
Once you have written all the tables, itâs time to lay them out on the seating chart. Use the printed reference file to lay out your cards, including the space between each card.
Attach the vellum sheets to the seating chart board using the pushpins, and secure them in the back to ensure that they do not move.
