C. Build a plywood bending jig; then shape flexible copper tubing into a circle for the hoop.

STEP D

Use a piece of twine to mark the curving pattern for the holes. Hold one end of the twine on the quarter mark on one side of the hoop. Pull the twine around the top of the hoop and down to the quarter mark on the opposite side.

Stretch the twine taut to create a smooth, curving line, and then transfer the quarter marks to the twine. Remove the twine and mark it at 1" intervals between the two quarter marks.

Wrap the string around the hoop, as before, aligning the quarter marks on the twine with those on the hoop to create a smooth curve. Tape the twine in place, and then use it as a pattern to mark the 1" intervals on the tubing. Drill a hole through one wall of the hoop at each mark.
