In developing this worldview, I will occasionally use the Bible. I am convinced that the Bible writers were inspired by God when they wrote the book. However, I am not giving a lot of attention to arguing this point because whether or not the Bible is inspired is not fully relevant for the following discussion. I will use the Bible to identify the world-view of the Bible writers in the same way that I would read the writings of any culture to determine their worldview. I will not be using the Bible to say this is right or that is wrong. I will simply identify how the Bible writers thought. What would Christianity be like if it were understood without the spiritual/natural division?

I am not trying to convince the atheist or even the skeptic. I am trying to show the reasonableness of Christianity and at the same time offer a well-thought-out Christian worldview. The atheist is welcome to listen in order to learn how we think, but my primary aim is to offer to Christians a foundation for their faith, which will help them in all areas of their lives.

As discussed in Section I, Chapter 2, a foundation is something upon which a structure is built. If a building is being constructed, its shape and size are very much determined by the foundation upon which it is erected. There may be some variations in construction materials and designs, but the fundamental structure will be predetermined by the foundation undergirding the whole building. Let’s lay our foundation now.
