21. NEGGING

Negging is perhaps the most controversial and best known pickup artist technique in the West. The idea behind negging, which is used only on the most beautiful girls (8 to 10), is to drop back-handed compliments, seemingly innocent insults, to lower her relative social value.

Negs are also part of the alpha male cocky routine, because they are meant to show that the girl is not that great of a ‘catch’, not the real prize in the discussion.

Most beautiful Western women are used to getting compliments 24/7, which is why an out of the blue neg is so effective in getting her off-balance. Even the most gorgeous girls are insecure inside, and spend a lot of time getting prepared to look good.

A typical neg could say something backhanded, but seemingly innocent about her looks, like “Is that a wig?” or “You’re a bit less hot than your friend, but that’s okay, because I fancy you,” or it could be something relatively harmless about her personality, like “You’re such a goofball!”

Never get into fights in China if you can avoid it, as the foreigner is always in the wrong, regardless of facts.

With negs in China, you should go very soft, if at all. Like stated before, there are scores of foreigners with 8s, 9s, and 10s with no game at all, so negging could potentially only put you out of the race instead of advancing your chances.

Negs are also useful only when done the right way in a live situation (the right tonality and delivery), and you’ll likely turn the women off if negging on QQ or WeChat messaging.
