From Diligent to Disenchanted

For Michael, it was the reading and thinking he did since his days in Seventh-day Adventist seminary that destroyed his fundamentalist beliefs. When he was interviewed, he was planning to leave the Adventists after a lifetime in the church and more than twenty years in the clergy. In recent years, he had also occasionally attended regional and local freethought and atheist meetings. He is grateful for the security and love that the Adventists provided him, but he can no longer pretend that he holds their beliefs.
